Indicators of Success for Coaches
There are a number of indicators that should be used to determine my success as a middle school coach. While collegiality is important, I believe the most metrics of success should be measured by the curriculum, instruction, and assessment in the MS.
Below, I have included several indicators that I would use to determine what success looks like for me as a middle school coach. The indicators of success are posed for ease of assessment and self-assessment by MS leadership, other instructional coaches, PLCs, and individual teachers receiving coaching. These indicators would serve as guidelines for discussions and reflections.
Observed work and products from middle school students and faculty should provide a strong source of evidence as to the degree of success, and should be seen as important data to observe and collect during every coaching and PLC experience.
